Around the world by motorcycle in 19 days... is it possible? Triumph says yes
British Dakar-winning rider Sam Sunderland will try to break this record with a Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer
Sam Sunderland, Triumph ambassador and two-time Dakar Rally winner, has announced that in September he will face his next great challenge.
This will consist of breaking the Guinness record that has stood since 2002 by riding around the world on a motorcycle in less than 19 days.

To do so, he will have to cover over 18,000 mi. (29,000 km) crossing five continents, 15 countries, and 13 time zones.
The challenge will start and finish in London, and will require up to 16-hour days on the motorcycle.

All of this will be seasoned with conditions that will push both the British motorcycle and the rider's physical and mental endurance to the limit.
The champion's tool
For such a challenge, the British rider has chosen the flagship of Triumph's maxitrail range: a Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer.
As expected, this unique "maxi" will be equipped as the occasion deserves.

Thus, it will feature the best original accessories from the brand, while the wheels will be fitted with Michelin Anakee Road tires.
As for the motorcycle's appearance, it will be decorated in Red Bull and Triumph colors.
Meanwhile, it has been adapted solely with recording systems to document the feat... That's all.

Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer of Triumph Motorcycles, highlights: "We're facing a huge challenge for Sam, after a record that has been kept intact for over twenty years."
"Sam's determination and focus will be up to the task, as will the Tiger's capabilities, ideal for such an epic adventure. We wish him much success on this journey around the world."

Sunderland himself is aware of a challenge of this magnitude, pushing him physically and mentally to the limit.
He states: "I'll be on the move for more than 15 hours in the cold, rain, heat, or humidity, fighting against the wind, exhaustion, and mental fatigue."
From here, we wish the British pair the best, hoping that the environmental conditions won't be too unfavorable for them.
As soon as we receive news about the project, we'll share it with you along with images of a venture as ambitious as few others.
