The scooter that you could ride without a helmet is reborn and does it again

It was the first scooter decades ago to achieve this, and now it returns with an electric motor plus a self-balancing function

BMW Motorrad surprises once again at IAA Mobility 2025 with a concept that leaves no one indifferent. The German brand has as its dogma the presentation of extraordinary prototypes that later find their application in production.

Now it's the scooter range's turn. BMW Vision CE offers a glimpse into the future of urban mobility. It breaks the mold and sets new parameters in the world of electric two-wheelers.

This prototype not only anticipates the natural evolution of the electric scooter, but also proposes something deeper. It means a new driving philosophy

It can be ridden without a helmet and without protective gear. It adds a design that invites people to enjoy the city in a casual, relaxed, and safe way. It's the essence of urban freedom reinterpreted under BMW's seal.

The BMW Vision CE is part of BMW Group's sustainability strategy, aiming for emission-free, smart, and connected mobility. It's not an isolated move, but the result of a path started more than a decade ago.

BMW's commitment to emissions reduction

In 2014, the German brand paved the way with the BMW C evolution. It was the first to combine premium design with an electric powertrain.

Afterward, the CE 04 arrived in 2022, becoming a global benchmark for its groundbreaking design and cutting-edge technology. The CE 02 in 2024 took a radical turn toward bolder, more youthful urban mobility.

Now, BMW Motorrad shakes up the industry again with a concept that partly recalls the BMW C1 from 25 years ago. That was the pioneering scooter that allowed people to ride without a helmet thanks to its protective structure.

The Vision CE picks up that idea and projects it into tomorrow, with an emotional and minimalist design that captivates at first sight.

Old-school and innovative proposal at the same time

Its conceptual core is a tubular structure, a true "protective cage", which acts as a safety cell. Combined with a seat equipped with a seatbelt, it guarantees an exceptional level of protection.

This way, it eliminates the need for a helmet and regular clothing. All this without giving up the thrill of driving.

Its design features flowing lines, with a visual lightness that surprises. The contrast between matte white and black accents creates a clean, futuristic ensemble.

Meanwhile, the neon red details add that vibrant touch that reinforces the model's personality.

As if that weren't enough, it incorporates surprising technology. The self-balancing function keeps the scooter stable even when stationary.

The BMW Motorrad Vision CE represents the vision of a different kind of urban mobility. Safety coexists with freedom, and sustainability with the pleasure of driving. Because the future on two wheels, if it follows this path, will be as innovative as it is exciting.
