The perfect intersection between craftsmanship and a unique motorcycle engine is discovered
At BMW Motorrad Days 2025, two creations that come straight from the heart of the Bavarian Forest have been presented
Under the[WOIDWERK]brand and the seal of its founder, Ralf Eggl, both motorcycles have shaken the souls of vintage enthusiasts. Their retro philosophy is an irresistible attraction.
This is a project based on BMW R 12 and R 18 units. They have been presented as blood sisters, but not twins.
They are defined as a dual interpretation of BMW's cruiser spirit that, under the title "The Speed Sisters," shapes a unique connection. They relate the emotional link between design, tradition, and high-level customization.

The premise was to bring together two technical platforms, R 12 and R 18, without falling into easy symmetry. Instead, a narrative of complementary contrasts was chosen.
The "little one," the R 12, has become an agile bobber, visually clean and solved. The tail has been reduced to the bare minimum. It features a seat upholstered in leather and Alcantara, and the riding position has been made more radical to provide greater connection with the front wheel.
It introduces raised suspension with a Wilbers monoshock and a black ceramic Hattech exhaust. All of this completes a sporty and sober profile.

Meanwhile, the R 18 shows a redefined musculature. The tank has been narrowed and raised, as a nod to dynamism, and the seat is handcrafted and floating.
This visually breaks with the whole without losing structural coherence. The braking system comes directly from the R 1300 GS, with radial calipers and 12.6 in. (320 mm) discs.
This detail is not an aesthetic whim, but a technical statement. All of this is supported by a raised chassis, also signed by Wilbers, which reinforces its "grand touring custom" stance.
German DNA
Both share an aesthetic defined by the identity of the place where they were born: the Bavarian Forest. The ¾ white and ¼ green scheme is not just chromaticism.
It is memory and geographical roots. As Eggl wittily says: "Here we have three winter seasons and one cold one".

In Garmisch, these sisters captivated for what they are: genuine interpretations of a style with history. Because when you customize without losing the technical thread or betraying the soul of a brand like BMW, the result is unique. What emerges is a statement of intent.
That is precisely what "The Speed Sisters" are. Pure craftsmanship with a Bavarian accent, mechanical sensitivity, and a contemporary outlook on the emotion of riding.
