This will be the last time you'll be able to see these MotoGP beasts: changes are coming
The 2026 MotoGP calendar has been published and it will be a season for the history books
The MotoGP World Championship will undergo a radical change in 2027. On one hand, in terms of regulations. On the other, regarding the countries that will complete its journey.
The 2026 season calendar has already been announced. It will be the last year in which spectators will be able to enjoy the spectacle of 1,000 cc models.
Starting the following season, the bikes will reduce their displacement to 850 cc. For the most passionate fans, this will be done by reducing the bore size. Specifically, it will go from 2.99 in. (81 mm) to 2.95 in. (75 mm).

The goal is to stop the escalation of maximum performance that this specialty has experienced. In recent years, we are seeing bikes capable of reaching 402 hp with just over 331 lbs. (150 kg) of weight.
This measure will be joined by the reduction of current assistance devices. The gadgets that allow the bike's height to be lowered at starts and during acceleration will be banned. Likewise, the proliferation of aerodynamic add-ons will be curtailed.
This will also reduce lap times. At least for now. Because evolution never stops.
The problem is that the circuits are reaching their maximum in terms of safety guarantees. Run-off areas can't be constantly expanded.
MotoGP 2026 calendar
In this context, MotoGP 2026 will mark a turning point in the evolution of the premier class. There are new developments regarding dates and circuits.

The Brazilian GP will replace the Argentine GP. The latter is expected to return in 2027, not in Termas de Río Hondo, but in Buenos Aires.
The British GP returns to its usual date in August. The aim is to have more pleasant weather conditions.
There will no longer be 3 consecutive GPs, but instead there will be 9 double-headers during the season.
As for the calendar in Spain, the usual 4 will be held, with the one in the Valencian Community closing the year. In 2027, it will be a different story. For now, only Motorland doesn't have its inclusion guaranteed.

The calendar presented by Dorna is still provisional. The official confirmation is pending, but if there are any changes, they will be few.
The 2027 season will also mean full adaptation to the guidelines of the new owner of the World Championship. Liberty Media, also owner of F1, bought 86% of Dorna's shares.
This change will result in a significant transformation of the championship. For example, in the attempt to increase penetration in the U.S. market.
In any case, the prominence of Spanish riders seems destined to continue.
