These are the most powerful trail bikes and they're inspired by those that rule in superbikes
BMW and Ducati dominate their rivals in the Superbike World Championship. Those engines are used to power the two most radical trail bikes of the moment
The segment of trail motorcycles with 100% asphalt content is an alternative that has fully established itself in the market. Some of them are defined by their touring capabilities. Others, on the other hand, opt for a more extreme character.
Among the latter, BMW M 1000 XR and Ducati Multistrada V4 RS stand out. These are the two most powerful trail motorcycles today.
We're talking about figures around 200 hp. Specifically, 201 hp for the German one and 180 hp for the Italian one. A few years ago, would you have imagined motorcycles with high handlebars with this performance?

Both have their origins in the World Superbike Championship. In addition, both models dominate this championship of production-derived motorcycles with authority.
The M 1000 RR and the Ducati Panigale V4 R have served as direct inspiration for these trail monsters. The BMW features the same inline four-cylinder engine layout as its RR sibling. The Multistrada does the same with the Panigale-inspired V4.
What the BMW M 1000 XR is like
Calling the BMW M 1000 XR a "crossover" is strange. It's a true RR disguised as an asphalt trail bike. Its 201 hp at 14,600 rpm is a clear statement of intent.
It belongs to the M family, made up of the most exclusive members of BMW's motorcycle and car ranges. The term M XR is the acronym for "MaXimizeR," that is, maximization. Because its entire being is taken to the upper extreme.
It uses M Carbon wheels or M front calipers in blue colors like BMW's classic racing image. It includes a RACE driving mode ideal for track sessions and a titanium muffler.

Its electronics are top-level and even include lateral aerodynamic appendages. It accelerates from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.2 sec and claims a top speed over 171 mph (275 km/h). You'll need them…
What the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS is like
The other top reference among the sportiest trail bikes is the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS. Within the complete range of Multistrada V4 variants, it's the one with the most powerful engine.
Its 180 hp at 12,250 rpm is accompanied by a maximum torque figure of 87 lb-ft (118 Nm) at 9,500 rpm. The BMW offers 83 lb-ft (113 Nm) at 11,000 rpm. This is how both declare their different personalities.

Like the BMW, it features electronic suspension and the brand's most exclusive package of electronic riding aids.
It includes Öhlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, or Brembo Stylema radial calipers. A whole compendium of technology at the service of performance.
