Watch out for your helmet: you could get fined for this when you put it on
When you wear your helmet, you should be aware that it is a vital piece for your safety: you should not do this
It is, or should be, well known to everyone how important it is to ride a motorcycle with a helmet of the correct size, perfectly fastened and approved.
Logically, it should be added that this element of our safety must be in proper condition.
However, there are behaviors of certain users who seem to be unaware of this. Are you one of them? Attention, because you could be fined...

What the law says
Article 118 of the General Traffic Regulations (RGC), is clear: nothing may hinder our attention, vision, hearing, etc., while driving.
If we apply this to the motorcyclist's helmet, there are certain actions and behaviors by some users that are subject to fines.
Thus, this article in section 1.5.C states that an offense in this regard will be penalized with a €200 fine and 4 points.
But if what you are violating is Article 18 of the RGC, that is, riding with an inadequate field of vision, the situation changes.
In this case, you could be fined a much lower amount, €80 (€40 for early payment), and your accumulated points would remain unchanged.
What does it depend on whether you are reported under one article or another, affecting more or less directly the wrong behaviors with your helmet?

The importance of your visor
One of the pillars of your full-face or flip-up helmet, essentially, is the visor.
Ultimately, it is what will give you the widest possible field of vision to ensure proper riding with your motorcycle.

However, this can be clouded (no pun intended) by fitting a dark visor for night rides or in low visibility conditions.
In short: if you ride with your helmet at night with a tinted visor, you may be fined under either of the two aforementioned articles of the RGC.
If, in addition, you do so with a visor without EU approval marked anywhere on the surface (corners), things get even worse...
The outer shell is not a piece of furniture
Do you remember that ornament our grandmothers used to put on top of cathode ray tube televisions? A bull, the Giralda of Seville, a flamenco dancer...
The surface of your helmet is not a shelf or an old TV, where you can put whatever you want.
The RGC is clear on this: you can't alter the properties of your helmet, which is exactly what you do by installing all kinds of accessories.

Ponytails, crests, covers that make it look like a "biker Santa Claus"... None of this is legal and you may be reported by any officer of the Civil Guard Traffic Division.
The condition of your helmet will determine whether it fulfills its function in the event you have an accident. You should make sure it is in perfect condition and without modifications.
